2nd Time Around

I have successfully completed almost 1 month of teaching! I cannot begin to tell you how much better things are the second time around! I feel like a whole different person. Last year I was so scared, unsure of myself, and clueless about everything. This year I am confident, in control, and really enjoying myself. Maybe I can do this teaching thing after all. So before I write about how I am changing the world each day I thought I would post a few pictures of my transforming classroom.. The first 2 pictures are of my class at the beginning of the year last year. The 3rd picture is of my class this year. notice any differences?

doesn't it look so crowded? everyday I would trip over all my students' stuff.

so drab and boring..........but now---look below!

sh-BAM! check out this new look!

I painted that wall myself! I rearranged, got new tables that are a lot skinnier so they take up less space. I only painted that one wall. The other 3 are still the ugly walls of a trailor but isn't that blue amazing???

I honestly have been trying to think of some funny stories to share, embarrassing moments to write about, some major mistake I made and cried about at the time but now I can laugh about it but I will tell you, I haven't really had anything like that yet this year. The kids are great and they are funny but nothing too major sticks out yet and maybe that's a good thing. I am hoping for no broken windows this year

Not one student has asked me how old I am or if I have a boyfriend. Last year they asked me all those questions within the first 2 days and then continued to ask weekly for the rest of the year. What is up with this group??? I was so prepared to deal with prying 13 year olds, but I have no need. Maybe that is also a good thing.

Overall I really feel like I am myself this year. I am myself with the kids and with the other teachers I work with and it is great. I love 2nd year teaching Lauren.

Ok, next post will include funny snippets or a list of life changing events, or a top 10 of some sort....stay tuned

Lauren, those pictures bring me back to my classroom at Hewitt-Trussville. Last year I was teaching in the OLDEST trailer in the system, it was the former art room so my walls were a weird periwinkle color (yours looks much better). But I DO understand bumping into tables and students. I hope you have a wonderful year!
