I have been teaching for 3 days now and the most valuable lesson I have learned is to wear comfortable shoes. I wore heels on tuesday (awful) new flats on wed (blisters everywhere) and nice dressy flip flops today (perfect) I wish I could wear my rainbows but I don't think those fall under "business casual" which is how I'm supposed to dress.
Some girls asked the first day if they could call me Miss H, I wasn't sure what to say I just kind of stared at them blankly. I've never even been called Miss Holcombe before I can't handle any variations yet.
It's nice to have a routine now. I wake up around 6, get to school around 7:15 and stay here until 3:30. I go run at this park around 4, make it back home by 5 in time to watch Ellen on TV, 6:00 is Scrubs/make dinner, 7 is Jeopardy/eat dinner and then the rest of the night is whatever until I go to bed. Not too exciting yet. The teachers are really great to get to know but the weekend is fast approaching and I am looking forward to church as the only time I will be around people who aren't teachers. Still haven't really found a church yet though hopefully soon I will find a place I will want to get involved in and maybe I will have more to look forward to than Ellen and Scrubs.
Yesterday I bought a plane ticket to Michigan for the last weekend in Sept!!! I am so excited I just want to go to sleep and wake up in a month. It will be so great to see friends. There's this girl that I kind of know up there, we did some things together in college, it will be good to see her again.
It's about time for lunch and I have lunch duty, so me and my Ricky Martin lunchbox are going to head out.
